About the Firm

How Naluri Wira came to be

Naluri Wira was founded in Bangsar in 2009 by a small group of lawyers who had spent the preceding decade working on general civil and employment matters. What they noticed, repeatedly, was that clients nearing or past retirement age had very little practical understanding of what their pension entitlements actually meant — and that the documents they were receiving from KWSP, KWAP, and their former employers were rarely explained to them.

The firm grew slowly and deliberately. Rather than expanding its practice areas, it narrowed them — choosing to develop genuine expertise in pension law, EPF administration, and the estate planning tools that intersect with retirement savings. Today, the firm serves three kinds of clients: those approaching retirement who want to understand what they have, families dealing with the loss of a pensioner, and individuals planning how their savings will reach the people they care about.

The name Naluri Wira reflects something the founding partners felt mattered: a quiet sense of advocacy — representing those who have often been left to navigate complex systems without adequate guidance. That remains the firm's orientation today. The office is modest and well-organised. The work is careful and unhurried.

What guides our work

Measured Counsel

We do not recommend actions before we understand a client's full situation. Every engagement begins with careful reading of the documents at hand, not with assumptions about what a client needs.

Respectful Engagement

Our clients are often dealing with significant life transitions — retirement, bereavement, the realisation that a plan is needed. We treat every conversation as a private and important one.

Honest Scope

We work within our area of expertise and say so plainly when a matter falls outside it. We would rather refer a client to the right place than stretch into territory we do not know well.

For Muslim clients requiring hibah or Syariah-compliant estate arrangements, we work alongside qualified Syariah advisors to ensure civil and religious requirements align.

PDPA Compliance

The firm complies with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia). Client data is stored securely and not retained beyond the period necessary for the engagement.

Pension law in Malaysia — what it means to have knowledgeable representation

The Employee Provident Fund (EPF or KWSP) administers retirement savings for the majority of salaried workers in Malaysia. For civil servants, the Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) governs pension benefits. Navigating the rules governing withdrawal, survivor entitlements, and the interaction of these savings with estate distribution requires familiarity with multiple overlapping statutory frameworks — including the EPF Act 1991, the Pension Trust Fund Act 2007, and, for Muslim beneficiaries, relevant provisions of Syariah estate law.

Naluri Wira works in this intersection. The firm's lawyers are familiar with the administrative processes of KWSP and KWAP, the documentation requirements for survivor claims, and the legal tools available — wills, hibah, family trusts, and nominations — for directing pension savings to the people a client wishes to benefit. This practical knowledge, built over more than fifteen years of focused work, is what the firm offers its clients in Kuala Lumpur and the wider Klang Valley.
